The 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) will not only continue but its amount will also increase next year.
Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah said the government has the financial capacity to continue the aid next year and the would also increase the amount to help the people to cope with rising cost of living.
“The country’s revenues will be used reasonably by the government to administer and develop the nation. “We’re going to focus on spending more on the country and the people’s development, and this will include BR1M,” he said after the 1Malaysia Library opening at Northern Brigade General Operations Force (GOF) Ulu Kinta, here today.
According to him, the increase in the number of BR1M would be for all stages of eligible recipients, but the lowest income brackets are expected to receive more.
“This (increased BR1M amount) will be announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in over Budget 2016 on October 23,” he said.
