The Finance Ministry today presented proposals for the 2016 Budget to Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
The prime minister said the proposals took into account many suggestions and ideas from various quarters and individuals who took part in the #Bajet2016 campaign via his blog, www.najibrazak.com.
“Thank you to everyone who has submitted suggestions to #Bajet2016. I will look into them together with the Ministry of Finance,” he said on his Twitter and Facebook posts.
A participant, Hairul Kham called on the government to reduce the income tax for enterprise companies owned by bumiputera to 10%. Another participant, Zul Mohd urged the government to control the clearing of forests meant for water catchment areas for oil palm plantations in Gua Musang, Kelantan and other places.
Clement Lee suggested that minimum wage and starting salary for workers should be determined by the national average basic salary in a particular sector to enable them to tide over rising cost of living.
The 2016 Budget will be tabled in Parliament on October 23.
